Our Services

We don't sell services that we can't perform. Every service that we offer is one that we have delivered successfully in the past. But we also recognize that every corporate environment is unique, and that we can't just copy-and-paste previous successes into your situation. That's why every potential engagement starts with an assessment project. For a modest fee, we focus our time and energy on your situation. We interview your customers and employees. We look at your processes and technologies. We give you an assessment, and you can use that assessment for any purpose. You can ask us to help address your issues, you can put the project out to bid, address the issues internally, or just throw the whole thing away.

Reinventing IT

If you want to move your IT organization to the next level, it will require some reinvention. It requires new processes, new attitudes and soft skills, and a fundamental change to the way you do business. It may very require changes in all of the areas described below.

IT Governance

Governance is the process by which companies decide how to allocate the finite resources available for IT projects. These resources aren't just limited to capital dollars or the time of IT employees; they include the time and energy of people within the business. Governance must be owned by the business as a whole.

Project Management "Culture"

Project Management is not just a skill or a discipline (although it is certainly both of those); it requires a project management culture. When it comes to IT projects, that culture has to extend beyond the confines of the IT department because IT projects involve the entire business.

Program Management

Program Management is the process by which multiple inter-related projects are coordinated. All too frequently, lack of coordination within IT causes overbooking of resources, poor communication between applications and infrastructure teams, or schedule conflicts. IT groups as small as 30 or 40 people can experience these problems; if you are running a larger organization without a PMO they are almost inevitable.

IT Branding and Marketing

If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it . . . then someone is not doing a good marketing job. IT is not often a "star" department in the company. Even if you are doing a spectacular job, it can be hard to get the word out in an effective way. And most IT folks don't even understand the value of doing so.

Organizational Development

Almost everything we do could be classified as "organizational development" because it is about getting the best possible performance from your team. But sometimes you are faced with an organization that is just not happy. It can be helpful to have an independent resource help you deal with organizational issues. We are not going to be anyone's boss or anyone's employee. We stay only as long as it takes to make things better.

Project management and Project Rescue

If there is a project in trouble within your IT organization, we can help bring it back under control. There's no magic. We use the industry-standard project management techniques that have been adopted by IEEE, ANSI, ISO, and the Project Management Institute. It's not rocket science, but sometimes you don't need a rocket scientist—just someone who has the time to focus.
